Can rebreathers be used during courses?
Divers may use rebreathers during a course providing:
- Are certified as a Rebreather Diver
- They can meet all the requirements of a course while using a rebreather.
- They stay within the depth limits of the course or the rebreather they are using. When these depth limits differ, then the shallowest depth of the two applies.
Students or staff cannot use Rebreathers during the NovoScuba Intro to Scuba program, Guided Diver, Independent Diver or Instructor Development Courses.
Instructors and course assistants with rebreather qualifications and experience can use registered rebreathers during dives that allow indirect supervision.
If direct supervision is required, do not use a rebreather unless you’re a certified Rebreather/CCR Instructor who has evaluated the potential risks and concluded that using a rebreather is appropriate for the training.
